Valuing Linguistic and Cultural Diversity in the First-Year Classroom

Session 6 — Presentation

Just as St. Francis valued leaders whose cultures varied from his own (Moses 2009), professors at Franciscan institutions must value our students of multiple cultural and linguistic backgrounds as assets to our campuses and classrooms.
This presentation explores ways that professors can approach multilingual learners from an asset-based, rather than deficit-based, learning and teaching paradigm.
