Learning-to-Write and Writing-to-Learn in a Franciscan Community: Partnership, Perception, and Process in a Near-Peer Writing Collaborative

Session 4 — Presentation

A cornerstone of Franciscan education is the idea that we learn best together, NOT alone. Inspired by this sense of Franciscan community and drawing upon research in the disciplines of pedagogy and writing, two college and one middle school educator describe their efforts to design a “near-peer” learning community of first-year college students and middle schoolers. The resulting partnership has fostered inquiry into commonly held beliefs about authorial perception and the writing process.
